Flamenco-Metal
About
FLAMETAL was formed in 2004 by Flamenco/Metal guitarist Ben Woods in Oakland California. They are the first and only band to ever successfully combine Flamenco and Metal music, thus creating a new genre. The demo featured the amazing guitarist Marty Friedman (Cacophony, Megadeth). With that demo (out of print), Ben assembled the best musicians in the bay area: Thomas Perry, Uriah Duffy(Whitesnake), Brian T Spalding, Angeline Saris and regularly had performances with Flamenco dancers! 'The Elder' was released in 2005. 'Master of the Aire' in 2007 which led to a Japanese record deal and tour of Japan. A couple years later, Ben moved from Oakland to Los Angeles and the band dissolved, then in 2010, Ben released 'Heavy Mellow' as a solo project, which brought about his touring covers trio called Heavy Mellow(Metal Classics on Flamenco Guitars). Now finally in 2014, the new FLAMETAL (self titled) proves to be some of the best material and production we have seen. FLAMETAL is still the one and only Flamenco/Metal band that combines real Flamenco guitar, rhythms, and knowledge with brutal and technical instrumental Metal.
